Timothy literally saved my Life! ~ Anonymous

I spoke with an “old friend” who had always been a high achieving, goal-oriented, super-confident, intelligent person! She started a second career in her 50’s, was a leader at her church, and ran a large non-profit for the less fortunate.

But when her son died about two years prior to Timothy’s departure, she started drinking heavily and taking drugs, pharmaceutical and otherwise. She would come home from work, get drunk, and pass out till work the next day. She was destroying her health in order to escape the pain.

She wasn’t able to attend Timothy’s memorial service, so she watched it online from her home.  We had chosen the song, “Live Like You Were Dying” for his slide show, and my friend was intrigued by the words. She said she affirmed to herself, “That’s me. I live like that.”

Then the Holy Spirit said, “No. That is not you. That’s who you were, but not anymore.” She said that moment was her turning point. It was a revelation of how far off course she had drifted.

As soon as she was physically well enough to go, she checked herself into a rehab program, and went off drugs cold turkey. She is now out of the program and doing well, leaning heavily on the Lord. She says “Timothy literally saved my life.”

But it wasn’t during his life-journey on earth; it was at his funeral.

Interestingly, I didn’t want to use that song at first, because it seemed too flippant about death. But after some time, I realized it really was perfect for Timothy, and God used it to rescue a soul.
