Redeeming the Grave
"I need to talk to you if you're his mother," the message read. "Please give me a call tomorrow." I sat on a step-ladder in the garage to make the call because the house was full of people, and I wanted to be able to hear. I had been working on Timothy's obituary around the clock, but I was glad to take a break to connect with one of his friends. I wanted to meet the people who shared Timothy's life and hear them tell their stories. I didn't know my step-ladder would become H

Hidden Treasures
I hadn't explored it before. It seemed like an intrusion into a personal space between Timothy and his God. But I can't describe the healing peace I have found here, reading how God shaped Timothy's life with the highlighted verses on the curled pages.

What Would I Give...
We were a hunting family. Thanksgiving week was always a fun flurry of activities with hunters coming and going, grabbing bites of turkey and pie as the food came hot out of the oven. It was a lifestyle!
But now that Herb and Timothy were gone, and the hunters had all moved out, there was nothing. No bubbling coffee pot, no good natured rivalry or prayers for a "Big Buck." No one snacking on the Thanksgiving dinner as it came out of the oven. Nothing.

Healing Journey ~ Holes in My Heart
I wanted to write a Bible verse on some colored paper to tape to my mirror, so I started digging through an old pile of odd sized pieces of construction paper. (I had been trying to "minimize" for a couple of months, and wasn't making very fast progress! I could always find a reason to keep my clutter!). When I pulled out the papers, I felt a wave of sadness sweep over me. I have learned to ask myself, "Why is this making me sad?" Instantly, I remembered that Timothy would

Healing Journey ~ An Unlikely Prophetess
"Why are you crying, *Amy?” Amy has cerebral palsy and carries her feelings on her shoulders. She cries loudly about pretty much everything, good or bad. “I don’t want to go home early!” she wailed. Her entire body was heaving with the sobs. “You aren’t going home early,” I explained. “This is the time I had planned for you to go home because I’m going caroling tonight. I knew when I invited you that we would have to leave at 5:00, so it’s not early – it’s the plan.”
